The TEN
Week 6 – Murder
June 30, 2024
(Pastor Wayne Kent)
Exodus 20:1-15 (NIV) abbreviated
And God spoke all these words:
“You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not give false testimony (tell lies) against your neighbor.
You shall not covet, (crave your neighbor’s stuff).”
There’s a significant difference between,
“Do not ________,” and “Do not _________________!”
Some 40 years prior to Exodus 20, __________ had murdered a man. ____________ had been a criminal on the run for most of those years.
“Do not murder,” comes down to a __________________ of humanity. ________________ is made in God’s image.
_________________ is invaluable in God’s eyes.
We all need __________. I need __________.
You need divine _________________.
Matthew 5: 21-22 (NIV) Jesus: You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.
